When you get called for a food review you do not under any circumstance say NO!! 🙂

So I got called for a Restaurant review by the UAE Food Guide. This restaurant is located in Discovery Gardens, it is a multi cuisine restaurant with 300+ items on the menu. And they wanted us to come and taste the dishes and give our reviews and also give them feedback on how they can improvise.

We were welcomed with a nice Drink. It was served in those cute little shot glasses. The juice was a burst of flavors, it was called the Mixed Fruit Juice. It was very refreshing, I really loved it and called for more 😉

Without any further delay let me tell you about the dishes that were served to us.

Salad:

They served us Mixed Vegetable Salad. It had a section of sliced tomatoes sprinkled with sesame seeds, then there was a section which had mayonnaise salad and it was perfect not too much of mayo and not too dry, just perfect. Then there was the star of the salad the eggplant, it was fried and it had amazing flavor, i flipped for it. All in all this salad was a 4/5 for me, the extra point for the Eggplant.

Starters:

-Red Pepper Chicken: It was a semi dry gravy with 3 boneless pieces of chicken, the dish was saved thanks to the gravy, the chicken was a bit dry and hard. The gravy and the veggies were good. The presentation of the dish was ok.

-Arabic Mixed Grill: The selection was good, the Presentation of the dish was really good. But again the chicken in it was quiet hard. I guess that’s probably because of re-heating. Taste wise it was good. It had Chicken wings, charcoal chicken, tikka and kebab along with some french fries, arayes, hummus, garlic chutney and salad.

-Tandoori mixed grill: This was similar to the Arabic one but this one had Prawns in it along with boneless malai tikka chicken and kebab. served with some salad, green chutney and onion and lemons. Taste was good, and this one wasn’t that hard. It was good.

-Fish Amendine: I did not try this as iam not a big fan of Fish and plus the smell of this fish was way too strong i couldn’t even keep it anywhere near me. Its Fish fillet and almond nuts with lemon sauce. The presentation was really very good.

Main Course:

-Methi chicken: It is a thick gravy of Boneless chicken cooked in Methi. The flavors are perfect, I would definitely call for this when I go there. The kind of dish where the presentation doesn’t matter because the taste is enough.

IMG-20160319-WA0013

-Coconut Mutton: Like the name suggests the main ingredient is the Coconut. The chopped coconuts pieces are fried in the oil in the beginning for an aromatic flavor. Again a very good dish. Loved it, iam not a very Mutton kinda person but this was good, dont mind repeating this.

IMG-20160319-WA0015

-Butter Chicken: This is one dish where no one can go wrong, this for me was very sweet, I know this dish is supposed to be sweet, but this was super sweet. But all in all it was a good dish.

IMG-20160319-WA0011

-Prawn Roast (Valapattanam Chemmen Roast): Yes this a Keralite dish, but the Prawns were amazing, it was a burst of flavors.

Dragon Chicken: This is a Chinese dish, like the name suggest we thought  it would be spicy but it turned out to be really sweet, didn’t like it that much. It was an Okish dish. Wouldn’t call for it.

Rice:

-Thalassery Dum Biryani Chicken: Thalassery is a place in Kerala and the biryani over there has a very dry masala and the rice is first fried in ghee and then boiled. I have never had the authentic one so can not comment on the authenticity. But the taste was good and the chicken was perfectly cooked. It was a break through for me from my regular biryani.

-Chicken Fried Rice: This was ok, not really great.

Desserts:

-Gulab Jamun: It was an amazing portion for one person, and after all that food there was no way i could eat one full so I shared with another foodie! And It was MIND BLOWING, not too sweet not hard, just right.

IMG-20160321-WA0001 IMG-20160321-WA0002

-Dry Fruit Falooda: This was a very different Falooda from the regular one, it had corn flakes in it, and in the beginning I was a bit hesitant but I went ahead and tried it out and it was really good. It had a very good crunch to it.
